The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) advises the following, in preparation for a storm or hurricane: a Continue to listen to the weather bulletins; remain calm, alert and vigilant (Spreading unnecessary rumours is not prudent). a Check your home—clean gutters, down spouts and drains and remove items around the yard that could be picked up by strong winds such as galvanised metal sheets or pieces of wood.
